Teen Wolf’s transformations are spooky and creepy.

-

Name: Emile Butler-O’Brien Position: writer who loves shows with supernatural creatures.

I am watching: Teen Wolf (20112017) the complete series, seasons 1-6 on Netflix.

My take on this show: the series is loosely based on Michael J Fox’s comedy movie Teen Wolf (1985), but it’s darker and more twisted with teen drama and other supernatural creatures. Teenager Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) is bitten by a werewolf in the small town of Beacon Hills, turning his life upsidedown. His transformation is hectic. It looks so pain full when you hear the bones cracking as he turns into a wolf, his face is covered with fur, his eyes glows and he howls at the full moon. Thumbs up to the special effects crew!

My favourite moment so far: Scott’s best friend Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) is a pleasure to watch in every episode. He is the clumsy teen who always says something funny and inappropriate.

Why I am watching it now: my husband, who hasn’t seen the series, started to binge all the seasons. I watched with because I remember how good the series was when it first aired on SABC2 in 2014.

Familiar faces: Dylan is best known for his role as Thomas in The Maze Runner (20142018) movies. There is also JR Bourne, who plays werewolf hunter Chris Argent, having starred as Russell Light-bourne in season 7 (2019) of The 100 (2014-2019).
