Back with killer wife

Qhabanga considers fixing his marriage with Gabisile, not knowing her murderous secret.

-

When pastor Qhabanga (Siyabonga Shibe) recently came home from an out-of-town church excursion, he discovered that his second wife Nomcebo (Nombulele Mhlongo) was missing. “They were on good terms before his trip, and what puzzles him is that her clothes are still in her closet. That can only mean one thing: trouble,” explains Siyabonga, whose character is spot on. Qhabanga doesn’t know it yet, but his estranged first wife Gabisile (Baby Cele) and her son Sibonelo (Wiseman Mncube) killed and buried Nomcebo to cover up that Gabi killed Nomcebo and Qhabanga’s son Khehla (Thobani Nzuza) in February this year.

With Qhabanga struggling during the search for Nomcebo, he confides in Gabi, which evokes his old feelings for her. “It’s funny that the same shoulder he cries on is responsible for his sorrow,” says Siyabonga. Gabisile shouldn’t get too settled comforting Qhabanga – she didn’t cover all her bases in hiding both murders and there’s still a witness.

GIVING UP THE FIGHT

Gabisile would like nothing more than to put an end to Qhabanga’s misery and come clean, but she doesn’t want to lose him again. He kicked her out in January this year after uncovering her affair with his son. “Gabisile ended it with Khehla and planned to fix their marriage by renewing their vows,” says Siyabonga. But on the morning of the renewal ceremony, Khehla tried to rape Gabi and in self- defence, she killed him. When Gabi tried to explain to Nomcebo her reasons for killing Khehla, Nomcebo didn’t believe her and she tried to get Gabisile arrested, so Gabi acted fast and got rid of Nomcebo too. “Gabisile is afraid that Qhabanga won’t believe her either. She can’t risk telling him when they’re so close to fixing things. She is a killer hiding in plain sight, hoping that Qhabanga forgets about Nomcebo and Khehla.” If only it was that easy…

WAITING IN THE WINGS

Instead of killing Nomcebo’s friend Mazaza (Mpume Ngwenya), who they’d held hostage with Nomcebo, they let her go on the condition that she’d leave forever. “Sure, Mazaza left, but she could return at any point and blow Gabisile and Sibonelo’s cover,” says Siyabonga. Until Mazaza sets foot back in KwaMashu, Gabisile will slowly be throwing out Nomcebo’s belongings and quietly move back into her home with Qhabanga, for now…
