SHOWER OF BLOOD

Sextape blackmailer ex attacks Imani at Gugu’s baby shower PLUS! A body secretly thrown in the river

-

The past has a way of coming back to haunt you, as architect Imani (Zonke Mchunu) discovers this fortnight. Back in October 2019, she was stalked by her co-worker Vuyo (Austin Shandu), which resulted in Vuyo being fired and imprisoned for blackmailing Imani with a sextape. He’s back after serving his time and it’s not looking too good for Imani. “She is in total shock when she bumps into him at a shop. He tries to talk to her, but Imani leaves in a hurry, with a fuming Vuyo screaming after her,” says Zonke. Vuyo continues to harass Imani and he gatecrashes Gugu’s (Bukamina Cebekhulu) babyshower after getting inside info that Imani will be there. What should have been a night of fun and celebrating of a new life quickly turns into a nightmare and murder.

A KILLER BASH

Imani, alongside Gugu, Rendani (Innocentia Manchidi) and Marang (Sharon Seno) are having fun at the babyshower when there’s a knock at the door. Vuyo is the last person Imani expects to see, and “he invites himself in and tells Imani he wants to talk. She refuses and asks him kindly to leave, but to no avail,” says Zonke. There’s a gasp when Vuyo lashes out and tries to hit Imani. “He has his hands around her neck and is behaving like a monster,” says Zonke.

Rendani and Marang’s attempt to pull Vuyo away their friend is brushed off, but they manage to throw him off. There’s a problem though, explains Zonke: “Vuyo falls and hits his head – there’s blood everywhere and he isn’t moving!” In a panic and out of breath, Imani tries to feel a pulse but there is nothing: Vuyo is dead.

PLAN OF ACTION

Gazing at Vuyo’s lifeless body in shock, the friends do the only thing they can. “They wrap his body in an old carpet, tape it closed and ditch Vuyo in a river on the outskirts of Thathe. They also promise each other to never talk about this night,” reveals Zonke.

But a secret can only stay hidden for so long. A few days later, Imani gets a phonecall from a stranger who says he know what they did, and he demands money for his silence. Zonke is tightlipped about what her character does, but the friends suspect each other of revealing the secret. “This will strain their friendship. They may not even be friends anymore…” adds Zonke. r Weekdays SABC1 (*191) 08:30 r Weekdays SABC2 (*192) 11:30
