A killer next door

These four brand-new shows on CBS Justice (*170) in April take you into the minds of some of the most cunning killers.

Would you be fooled by a serial killer? Would you know if you were sharing a home with one or perhaps even dating one? Most people are caught completely unaware. It’s just as well that there are excellent detectives around to put these callous murderers behind bars on CBS Justice (*170)…

HANDSOME DEVILS

Looks, it seems, can be deceiving, especially when it comes to these devious criminals. They may be outstandingly attractive on the outside, but on the inside lies nothing but darkness. Unfortunately, as this new series shows, too many women are taken in by the beguiling appearances of these men and by the time that they realise what they’re all about, it’s too late. Just take Mary for example, as she’s fooled by goodlooking “CIA agent” Will Jordan. By the time she realises that he’s a conman, it’s too late. And then there is Lesley from North Carolina, whose baby-faced good looks cover up his murderous intentions…

Weekdays at 19:00 from Monday 4 April.

MAKING A SERIAL KILLER

What is it that sets a serial killer off on their path of destruction? Nature or nurture? Are they goaded into it or was it always their destiny? This indepth true-crime series takes us into the minds of some of the most prolific killers the world has known. The US’s youngest serial killer thought that owning a loud dog was enough to kill one of his victims. One woman claimed that she had the right to kill men because of what she had suffered when younger. Through interviews with detectives, relatives and footage with the killers themselves in the interrogation room, this series sets out to understand what makes someone kill – again and again.

Weekdays at 19:00 from Monday 18 April.

LIVING WITH A SERIAL KILLER

Would you know if the person you were living with was a killer? There are people who claim to have known nothing about the double life of a relative living under the same roof. Former prosecutor and investigative journalist Beth Karas takes a closer look at three of the UK’s most infamous killers – Joanne Dennehy, Steve Wright and Peter Tobin. With unprecedented access to their families, she’s able to ask the hard questions – how could they not have known, and how do they feel now that the truth is out.

Sundays at 20:00, from April.

MURDER: FIRST ON SCENE

Follow the real-life timeline of 10 murders to see how the detectives and first responders reacted to ensure an arrest. Each episode starts with a body being discovered and forensic investigators, pathologists, medical examiners, detectives as well as those involved in the deeper investigations – the cyber security experts, entomologists and prosecutors – reveal how important it is to preserve the scene of the crime. Sundays at 19:00, from 24 April.
