Betraying the heart

Zithulele has had it with Nokuzola’s lies!

-

Zithulele (Raphael Griffiths) knows what history lies between his wife Nokuzola (Vuyiseka Cawe) and his half-brother Nkululeko (Kay Sibiya), and all this time he has been turning a blind eye to everything they’ve done to him. But not anymore. Especially since he caught them kissing and the bomb about Nkululeko being baby Nozi’s (Mpendulo Mcineka) biological father has dropped. “Zithulele is enraged, but most of all he’s extremely hurt, dejected and disappointed. He has always had a hunch that baby Nozi is not his child, but to have Nkululeko confirm his suspicions is crushing, and this time it may be to the point of no return,” says Raphael. Even for poor baby Nozi!

ANSWER ME NOW

Zithulele is adamant on giving Nokuzola the cold shoulder and ignoring her pleas to stay together. But even Nkululeko suing for custody of baby Nozi may not be enough for the couple to stay united against Nkululeko. “Zithulele is taking a stand and he isn’t going to bend to anyone’s will this time. He wants nothing to do with Nokuzola and he refuses to go out and show the world that they are a united front, when they are clearly not,” explains the actor. “When it comes to the legal summons regarding baby Nozi, Nokuzola is shocked, but Zithulele, more than anything, is completely broken.”

An enraged Nokuzola confronts Nkululeko, only to be stunned when he asks her to leave Zithulele for him. But Nokuzola is even more stunned when Zithulele announces that he wants a separation! “Zithulele makes a decision to end his marriage, but that doesn’t mean he’s giving up his family. He’s just done with all of the lies and betrayal. He feels that his separation is the first step towards that,” explains Raphael.

MESSY AFFAIR

While Zithulele is set on ending their union, Nokuzola decides to fight for their marriage even though she knows she has his brother’s heart. But things get messy when, instead of resolving their issues, the couple fall into bed together during a drunken night and have “didn’t we almost have it all sex”, says Raphael. “Zithu and Nokuzola are fighting and suppressing feelings, and on this particular night they get drunk and seek comfort in each other’s arms,” says the actor. “But this drunken mistake makes it more complicated and leaves them with more questions than answers.”

In the midst of all the drama, Nokuzola realises that baby Nozi is missing and has been abducted! This causes accusations to start flying as everyone suspect each other of taking Nozi to get the upper hand. “I can’t say much, but Nozi was taken by a hooded figure. No one knows who it is,” says Raphael.
