ARDMORE ONLINE PANGOLIN EXHIBITION
The world came together as the people stayed apart’.
During South Africa’s lockdown, Fée Halsted of Ardmore Ceramics found herself looking forward to seeing the astonishing artworks that emerged from Lidgetton. Her visits to the village across the train tracks from the studio never failed to inspire her - not least when she encountered this remarkable Pandemic Pangolin, sculpted by Lesotho artist Tebogho Ndlovou, for the very first time.
Tebogho’s ability to create this masterwork during such a constrained time in everyone’s lives struck Fée as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and reaffirmed the truth in the saying, art will find a way
For the Ardmore artists, pangolins have come to symbolise this topsy-turvy word. An endearing blend of resilience and vulnerability, these threatened creatures are particularly easy to empathise with at present. Their unique shapes and abilities have also inspired striking ceramic masterworks. Curl up and buy! Exhibition ends 31 October.
