GET YOUR DANCING SHOES ON FOR NIGHT TO Shine
Have you been practising the steps to the Jerusalema dance?
Residents are being invited to grab their dancing shoes and meet on the field opposite the Howick Community Church in Holmes Lane, to perform the dance, which forms part of the build up to
Night to Shine on Friday, February 10. This special event gives teenagers and adults, living with special needs, the chance to wear ball gowns and dapper suits, crowns and tiaras, and to be treated to an unforgettable night of fashion and fun.
The Howick Community Church is one of hundreds of churches around the world taking part in the special evening, which is organised by the Tim Tebow Foundation, which was founded in 2010 to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day.
As part of the Midlands event, supporters are being asked to assemble on the field by 5pm. The Jerusalema dance will take place at 5.10pm.
Jacci Peter, spokesperson for Night to Shine, said residents living around the field need not worry about there being an allnight party.
“There will be music for five to 10 minutes from 5.10pm while residents join in the fun of the Jerusalema dance,” she added.
“Then there will be a welcoming speech, before Cuba Ikaneng, aka Makhubalo The Storyteller, introduces our very special guests for the evening.
“Those who join us for the dance are also invited to line the red carpet and cheer on the Night to Shine kings and queens.”
From 6pm the night belongs to the specially invited guests, who live in Howick, Mpophomeni and the surrounding areas. They will dance the night away and enjoy a three-course meal.
To ensure that they get to feel extra special, residents and businesses are being asked to get in touch if they would like to help provide evening gowns and suits.
