HOWICK LIGHTS UP FOR NIGHT TO SHINE

- ESTELLE SINKINS

There are just two more sleeps before the Howick community lights up for a group of very special residents!

Organised by the Tim Tebow Foundation, Night to Shine, which was founded in 2010 to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day, the event gives teenagers and adults, living with special needs, to enjoy a glamorous night out.

Dressed in ball gowns and dapper suits, crowns and tiaras, they will be the kings and queens of Night to Shine, which takes place on Friday, February 10.

Residents are being invited to give up a little time to show their support for the stars of the event, which will take place on the field opposite the Howick Community Church in Holmes Lane and inside the building.

Supporters will be encouraged to strut their stuff during the Jerusalema dance at 5.10pm.

“We challenge all our people in uniform to join us in their groups, as we hope to see our town do the Jerusalema moves together as one,” said coordinator, Jacci Peter said.

After the dance, participants are urged to stay on and cheer on the Night to Shine guests as they walk the red carpet from 5.30pm.

From 6pm the night belongs to the specially invited guests, from Howick, Mpophomeni and surrounding areas, who will dance the night away and enjoy a threecourse meal.

Parking has been allocated around the edge of the field from Main Street and Fraser Street as Holmes Lane will be partially closed to traffic. Security measures are in place.
