FORDYCE INSPIRES HAC RUNNERS
Comrades legend, Bruce Fordyce, was guest of honour at the Howick Athletic Club (HAC) time trial at Midmar Dam on Thursday, February 2.
He spoke to members about his book, Winged Messenger: Running your First Comrades Marathon, and signed copies for runners.
“All the copies were sold out within an hour and everyone appreciated the personal anecdotes that Bruce penned for them,” said Mary Gray, from HAC. “His talk about his own journey was truly inspirational. It was a pleasure to listen to such an accomplished raconteur.
“Thanks, Bruce, for joining us at Howick Athletic Club. We had a record attendance at our monthly time trial and enjoyed phenomenal support from members, their families and the Howick and Hilton communities.“
As a token of the club’s appreciation, Fordyce was presented with a painting by local artist and HAC club member, Simon Addy.

The next 6km time trial will take place on Thursday, March 2 at Howick Athletic Club’s headquarters at Midmar Dam. The summer start times are 4.45pm for walkers and 5.15pm for runners.
