• Victrix Ludorum: Jeanette James;

As for our 2023 club competitions, the mixed pairs are almost through the first rounds with the following games having been played:

Graham Sharp and Melanie Ross won against Koos Marais and Sheridan Schraader. Well done to Graham and Mel, who picked up an eight on their 17th end, which put enough of a shot difference between the teams to make catch up quite a challenge.

Colin Burden and Chantal D’Hotman won against Neil Wright and Lisa Nagel. Their’s was a very close game with the teams going into the last end peeled on 17, however Colin and Chantal picked up one shot to win.

In the drawn trips, Colin Burden, Pat

Ciro and Sheridan

Schraader won their game against Lisa Nagel, Grace Mainprize and Arlene Malloy.

Well done to all players on great games!

Over the weekend, we had three teams enter the NIBA Trips competition. It was a very hot, and quite humid day, with some challenging greens and strong opposition.

Steve Smith, Neil Wright and Kevin Palmer played at Collegians and won against both Lynwood and Maritzburg West, but lost to Howick.

Colin Burden, Bob Chetty and Koos Marais played at Maritzburg West and lost to Maritzburg West and Howick but picked up a win against Lynwood.

Lisa Nagel, Wendy Smith and Ann Cacho played at Lynwood and lost to Lynwood and Howick but went on to win against Maritzburg West.

All the players gave their best and an enjoyable day was had by all.

The snooker club is starting to take shape with games being played on alternative Fridays and also on Wednesday evenings. As we get more players we'll formalise things a bit more and start running some competitions so watch this space for more information.

Lastly, Steve Smith, who is our new greens-keeper, is settling in nicely with only one hiccup ... goats! Only in Africa do you have to chase goats off the greens!
