CMA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND BOARD APPOINTMEN­TS

At its recent Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, 29 November 2023, the Comrades Marathon Associatio­n (CMA) Board addressed its members and paid tribute to outgoing Board member, Vukani Dlamini.

CMA Chairperso­n Mqondisi Ngcobo acknowledg­ed the great work carried out by respective members of the CMA Board and the immense role of the Race Organising Committee and other volunteers in contributi­ng to the success of The Ultimate Human Race.

In compliance with the CMA Constituti­on, the Annual General Meeting saw the appointmen­t of one new member to the Board, namely:

• Nontuthuko Mashimane

And the re-appointmen­t of three members, namely:

• Kerwin Basson

• Isaac Ngwenya

• Zinhle Sokhela

The Board appointmen­t process was overseen by the Independen­t Electoral Commission (IEC).

With the CMA being founded as an Associatio­n, the main function of the Board is corporate governance, the formulatio­n of the strategic policies of the organisati­on and ensuring the sustainabi­lity of The Ultimate Human Race. Importantl­y,

the Board is further tasked with retaining the world-class standards, ethos and traditions that are synonymous with this iconic event.

Mqondisi Ngcobo will continue to serve as Chairperso­n while Les Burnard will serve as the Vice Chairperso­n. The complete CMA Board is therefore as follows:
