SPORTS SUCCESS FOR SUNFIELD RESIDENTS

Sunfield residents flew the Howick flag high when they took part in the swimming events at the recent KAZNA National Summer Games.

Bronwyn Ramthula took five gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze at the event.

Paula Heenan, meanwhile, won three gold and one bronze medal, Hayley Bull came away with one gold, four silver and a bronze, and Jennifer Higgins finished the meet with 13 gold medals, four silvers, a bronze and the trophy for the best masters lady with Down’s Syndrome.

David Coates finished the games with 11 gold medals, four silvers and a bronze, as well as the trophy for the best masters male swimmer at the event.

Hylton Heggie finished with 11 golds, four silvers and the trophy for the best masters men with Down’s Syndrome.

The KZN swimming team came first overall.

Sunfield residents also did well in the table tennis, where the KZN table tennis team came first overall. Benjie Worrall won a silver and three bronze medals, with Douglas Dryden bringing home two silver and three bronze medals. Brenda Houghton won one gold, one silver and two bronze and Leanne Jelf was awarded one gold, one silver and three bronze.

In the pool event, the KZN Blackball Pool team came second overall, with Carol Mileham, Aimee Dell and Jasmine Williamson all receiving silver medals.

Sunfield will be hosting its May Fair from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, May 1. The event will include live music, a tea garden, putt-putt, food stalls, craft stalls, kids games and face painting. The Sunfield Shop will also be open. On site parking is available at the Home at 152 Main Street, Howick. Inquiries: 033 330 2094.
