Known for its amazing bunny chows, Inside Sports Lounge is clear that it is also about cocktails, sport viewing and beach ambience.
The drink is made by placing pineapple juice and crushed ice into a chilled glass.
Barman Ngoni Kafesu then shakes a dash of each of the spirits together and strains the mixture over the pineapple juice. Finally, he garnishes with a cherry and an orange slice.
Two distinct layers are visible when the drink is served, with the spirit mix sitting at the top – thinner and more transparent.
The combination of flavours tasted a bit like liquorice.
Although Inside Lounge specialises in curries, including a Durban variety, pizzas and tamer fare are also available.
Following the closure of its Kenilworth branch, Inside Lounge has opened a new branch a few kilometres south of Eden on the Bay.
Inside on Fire is now open at 5 Marine Circle in Blouberg. It is more of a party bar, offering bring and braai facilities and pool tables. Curry is not on the menu.
The restaurant Eden on the Bay offers free wi-fi and is open from 9am to 2am daily. Wednesdays is ladies’ night, with discounts on food and SAB drinks.
It also has a two-for-one cocktail special during lunch from Mondays to Thursdays. – Wendyl Martin
