Busker cops suspended

- SIBONGAKONKE MAMA

THREE of the six law enforcement officers who dragged Lunga Goodman Nono, 51, and broke his guitar while he was busking in St George’s Mall have been suspended and face a formal disciplinary hearing and a police investigation.

Richard Bosman, the city’s executive director for safety and security, said a charge of malicious damage to property for damage to Nono’s guitar had been laid with the police.

On Monday the blind guitarist was dragged from his usual busking spot in St George’s Mall, where he has played his guitar since 2008, in front of his wife Abigail and 10year-old daughter Portia.
