Elephant kills man
KATHMANDU: A wild elephant trampled a man to death in southeastern Nepal yesterday, police confirmed.
The 64-year-old was asleep in his hut when the elephant attacked him in the district of Jhapa.
The increasing human encroachment on forests and elephant trails is causing the animals to stray from their habitat and into villages. At least 10 people have died in Nepal in elephant attacks during the past 12 months. – Sapa-dpa
