Water-rich Gansbaai farm up for auction

-

RAWSON Auctions will present the 42.8-hectare Driefontein estate in Gansbaai for auction on July 24.

Tanya Jovanovski, co-franchisee for Rawson Auctions in the Western Cape, says the farm is a short drive from the coast, two hours from Cape Town and roughly 40km from Hermanus.

“The farm has three fountains which feed dams all year round. This enabled it to be a major supplier of vegetables and fruit to Gansbaai’s fresh produce and grocery outlets in the past.

“However, following the introduction of national chain supermarkets to the area – all with their own suppliers – the demand for these crops dropped. But the farm still has the potential to produce good crops.”

It has mixed natural-grass pastures and fynbos scrubland, and now operates mainly with cattle and pigs.

In addition to six outbuildings, including several garages, the farm has two large modern houses, of 230m² and 150m².

The farm is surrounded by fynbos areas with some of the Western Cape’s most attractive walking trails, and Jovanovski expects bidding on the farm to start at about R2.5 million.

The auction is scheduled to t ake pl ace on Wednesday, July 24, at noon, in Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch.
