Children fall into focus

- TRAVEL WRITER

CONGRATULATIONS to Tevia Zieff of Bloubergsands for his picture of children playing on the streets of Istanbul.

While strolling through the back streets of the Sultan Ahmet district, he says he came across these children playing in the street outside their home.

Zieff wins a R300 meal voucher at Blowfish Restaurant in Dolphin Beach, Blouberg.

The runners- up are Sandy Williams of Claremont for her picture of Zurich, Switzerland, and Margaret Luff of Kommetjie for her picture of elephants on the Chobe River in Botswana.

Williams admired the beautiful buildings and the colourful flower boxes that decorated this picturesque Zurich street.

“I could hardly believe just how all the buildings and houses were so neatly decorated. You see flower boxes everywhere, whether in the city or countryside, in almost everyone’s homes and even the hotels.

“Everyone seems to take so much pride with their boxes. They really brightened the dreariest of days.”

Luff was on a boat on the Chobe River watching various wild animals coming down for a drink.

“We had the privilege of watching a herd of elephants swim across the river. It was awesome to watch them waiting for each other and helping the younger ones, when they got tired, by letting them climb on their backs.” Competition rules: ● All photographs must relate to travel, and you may enter as many as you like.
