SA model flaunts it with R102m brassiere
SUPERMODEL Candice Swanepoel was the talk of social networks and lifestyle pages this week after stealing the show at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York.
Among those who praised her for overcoming her “stage fright” and looking like a million dollars was London’s Daily Mail.
The 25 year old showed off her incredible body as she sauntered confidently along the runway wearing the $10million (R102m) Fantasy Bra.
Following in the footsteps of Miranda Kerr, Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Claudia Schiffer, Swanepoel was picked to showcase the lingerie brand’s multimillion dollar bra.
This year’s design, “The Royal Fantasy Bra”, was designed by Swiss-based jeweller Mouawad.
The bra is adorned with more than 4 200 gems from around the world, including rubies, diamonds and yellow sapphires.
It also comes with matching pink frilly panties and a gold belt, worn by Swanepoel.
The model, originally from Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal, wore white gloves and red velvet heels as she walked the catwalk during the show, which will be broadcast globally on December 10.
Swanepoel may have breathed a sigh of relief when she was later able to remove the expensive garment, and replace it with an equally stunning but far less pricey creamcoloured lace and velvet ensemble.
She told People magazine last month after being photographed in the dazzling ensemble: “I’ve never worn anything this pricey, and we have to put gloves on when we put it on.
“I’m kind of praying that everything goes well and I don’t fall, but once I’m on the runway, I get into this zone. I have this feeling of pride.
“It’s kind of a big ordeal. The bra comes with two bodyguards and we have to handle it with a lot of care.”
