High-ticket prop­er­ties to be sold off coun­try­wide

Telkom’s build­ings and va­cant land to be auc­tioned online over the next few months

GOIN­DUS­TRY Dovebid South Africa has been awarded the ten­der con­tract to dis­pose of var­i­ous parcels of land and build­ings around the coun­try on be­half of Telkom.

Kim Fa­clier, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor for GoIn­dus­try Dovebid Prop­erty South Africa (GoDove SA), says the sale man­date in­cludes va­cant land and res­i­den­tial build­ings, as well as some high-value com­mer­cial and in­dus­trial prop­er­ties.

“More than 60 prop­er­ties will be sold over the next few months, start­ing with the first batch of 37 at the end of this month. The prop­er­ties are all over South Africa, from the Western Cape to KwaZu­luNatal, Gaut­eng, North West and Mpumalanga – and al­most ev­ery­where in be­tween.”

It is ex­pected that sale pro­ceeds from th­ese prop­er­ties could reach R200 mil­lion.

Some of the high- ticket prop­er­ties to be sold next year in­clude about 10 000m ² of va­cant land in Ben­more Gar­dens, which bor­ders Sand­ton City, a 28 000m² high-rise com­mer­cial build­ing in Jou­bert Park, Gaut­eng, and about 20 000m ² of busi­ness- zoned land in Walmer, Port El­iz­a­beth.

Prop­er­ties for sale this month in­clude va­cant land in Stru­is­baai, Stil­baai and Stel- len­bosch in the Western Cape; va­cant land in Cato Manor and Salt Rock in KZN; East Lon­don, Port El­iz­a­beth and var­i­ous va­cant plots, res­i­den­tial, in­dus­trial and com­mer­cial build­ings in other ar­eas like Prieska, Barberton and Mid­del­burg.

real es­tate ser­vices with 40 of­fices in 27 coun­tries, and most of its clients are For­tune 500 and For­tune 1 000 com­pa­nies.

The main suc­cess be­hind the global en­ter­prise has been the com­pany’s pro­pri­etary auc­tion soft­ware plat­form, which has been de­vel­oped over 15 years at a cost of more than $20m (R207m).

The com­pany launched its first ded­i­cated live online prop­erty auc­tion site in 2011, through GoIn­dus­try DoveBid SA.

Buy­ers in­ter­act in real time and full track­ing ca­pa­bil­i­ties are avail­able be­fore, dur­ing and af­ter auc­tions, pro­vid­ing the crit­i­cal cor­po­rate gov­er­nance and trans­parency that com­pa­nies, the gov­ern­ment and many paras­tatals re­quire, says Fa­clier.

The prop­erty di­vi­sion for Go-Dove also spe­cialises in on­site auc­tions, pri­vate treaty sales and val­u­a­tions.

GoIn­dus­try was ac­quired by Liq­uid­ity Ser­vices, which has the largest global mar­ket­place and val­u­a­tion data for sur­plus as­sets, with more than 2.4 mil­lion reg­is­tered buy­ers and more than 42 mil­lion web­site vis­its an­nu­ally.
