Hunt for Abramjee robbers

-

A MANHUNT was under way for two armed robbers who broke into Crime Line head Yusuf Abramjee’s home in Erasmia, west of Pretoria, yesterday, police said.

The robbers first targeted another nearby house but were interrupted by police, Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

In the car they left behind, which was reported stolen in the area earlier in the week, police found equipment used for housebreaking.

The robbers moved to Abramjee’s house, where they jumped an electric fence before robbing them of a car at gunpoint.

“As they were driving out of the premises, they fired several shots, and a shoot-out with the owner of the house Abramjee ensued,” Dlamini said.

His car has not yet been recovered. – Sapa
