Restaurant: Frères Bistro Address: Shop 1A 42 Hans Strijdom Avenue, Foreshore Hours: 021 418 1609 Twitter: @FreresBistro Cocktail: Fish Eagle Rio Price: R45 Ingredients: Fish Eagle Brandy, fresh cuts of lime, sugar syrup SIMPLE, but refreshing, Frères Bistro on the Foreshore offers this brandy cocktail as part of the Urban Brandy Cocktail Route movement.
Manager Daniel Fox says he first places lime cuts in a tumber and tops them with crushed ice. In a shaker, he muddles lime, brandy and syrup, then strains it over the crushed ice. It’s a simple, sweet way to enjoy Fish Eagle brandy. Fox recommends this drink for those who enjoy a mojito.
Frères Bistro is taking part in the growing route that aims to celebrate brandy as the base of cocktail creations. It started off as a modern extension of the R62 and Western Cape Brandy Routes. The Urban Brandy Cocktail Route now has restaurants across Cape Town and new routes are planned for Joburg and Cape Town.
The restaurant is a cute French style bistro, next to Col’Cacchio on the Foreshore, that has been open for nine months and is making good progress. Having a corner spot doesn’t hurt and neither does their amazing onion soup.
They have free WiFi and are open from noon to 10pm from Tuesdays to Fridays and 6pm to 10pm on Saturdays. – WendylMartin Twitter:@WendylMartin firstname.lastname@example.org
