Large tiles, larger selection and the largest tile showroom

- ITALCOTTO SPOKESPERSON

MANY people would like their home to look like someone else's. Shouldn't your home reflect who you are and what you love? Well, of course it should.

Where better to visit than the Italcotto Design Centre who has all the latest tile trends offering un-comprised quality, excellent value and style.

Large format tiles: Small areas appear bigger as the large tile enhances the space creating a clean uncluttered feel.

The less grout lines, the less busy your floor is and the more expansive it appears.

Making rooms feel larger not only adds a more inviting feel to your home, it can also enhance the resale value of your home.

Today’s technology has allowed for a seemingly endless selection of tile designs and styles in numerous sizes, textures and colours. A few years ago the largest tile size available was 500x500mm; today 600x600mm, 800x800mm, 900x900mm and even l arger 600x1200mm are common.

Stone series: The latest range includes the Stone Series ,available in a 3 stunning natural tones in 600x600,800x800 and 1200x600mm formats. The surface looks and feels like real stone without all the maintenance and sealing aspects associated with stone floors.

Benefits of using large tiles The large size tile is made of porcelain, extremely hard wearing and suitable for homes, offices and industrial purposes. The tiles appear as slabs of marble or stone and are usually rectified, thus allowing the tiles to be laid very close to one another; grout joints are minimal and this leads to a clean, minimalistic look. Tiling can be done at a much faster rate than smaller tiles. Large “grip” tiles can be used for wet and outdoor areas. Information on large tiles: The professional tiler has equipment to deal with the larger tile and will normally use a water cutting machine to cut the tile. Large tiles are suitable both for floor and wall applications. Most of the ranges have a rectangular format (for example 400x800 or 450x900mm) available to complement the floor tile and these are extensively used for bathroom and kitchen walls. There are many other applications that have become popular using large tiles for example bedroom wall paneling; lounge and bar area wall cladding. Decorative tiles or tile mosaics are available to complement the larger plain tile; this adds interest and design to complete the picture. Rough surface tiles in porcelain are very popular for the outdoor areas and have excellent anti-slip surfaces. There are many other reasons to give The Italcotto Design Centre a visit: Italcotto is a strong family business, which was started in 1986 by Angelo Marchesini.
