Doomsday path a reality for Israel

-

“WHY DO Palestinians celebrate sadism?” asks Rodney Mazinter (Weekend Argus Saturday, October 24). Indeed, this is a good question, but not one that is unique in history.

Ilya Ehrenburg, Stalin’s propagandist once said: “Kill, kill, you brave Red army soldiers, kill. There is nothing in the Germans that is innocent.

“Obey the instructions of Comrade Stalin and stamp the fascistic beast in its cave. Break with force the racial arrogance of the Germanic women. Take them as your legal loot. Kill, you brave soldiers of the Red Army, kill!”. My source is a report in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung of February 28, 1995.

Thanks to this effective propaganda of “humanity”, nearly three million men, women and children were murdered and some three million East European women were gang raped and “liberated” of their virtue.

Ehrenburg is especially revered in Israel. Coming to more recent times, we have a quote by Ariel Sharon, former general and Israeli prime minister, who said in 1982: “We are JudeoNazis, and why not? If your nice, civilised parents, rather than writing books about their love for humanity had instead come to Israel and killed six million Arabs, what would have happened? Sure two or three nasty pages would have been written in the history books, and we would have been called all sorts of names, but we would be here today as a people of 25 million. What you do not seem to understand is that the dirty work of Zionism is not finished yet, far from it.”

A few months ago the president of Israel stated that the hatred consuming both Israeli Jews and Muslims was so great that he feared that Israel would be destroyed. Fair comment, but his solution was that the Jewish population should be increased through immigration to 12 million.

The only way to achieve this is the expulsion of the Palestinians inhabitants of their country.

Unable to match Israel gun for gun, Palestinian youths are resorting to asymmetric warfare; one stabbing here, one murder there, one bomb here, one shooting there. Having nothing to lose except their lives, they are invincible. The Israeli populace does not know where the next blow will come from. Israelis can inflict pain, but cannot take the pain. It was the same with the Americans in Iraq who had to pull out, victims of IEDs that blew their soldiers apart.

What Palestinian youth is effectively saying is, to paraphrase Ilya Ehrenburg: “Break with force the racial arrogance of the Israelis,”

Short of the mass murder proposed by Sharon, I am afraid Israel is on the doomsday path feared by their president.

But there is another option, summed up in the idea that “if my people humble themselves, I will heal their land”. Is it impossible to see the enemy as human beings with the same needs as ours, and understand the pain inflicted on them?

If so, maybe there will be a possibility of peace. But the clock is ticking for Israel and no amount of armament will stop it.
