Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Cocktail Corner
Establishment: The Company’s Garden Restaurant Address: 15 Queen Victoria Street, Company’s Garden Phone: 021 423 2919 Cocktail: Gardens Pimm’s Price: R38 Ingredients: A double shot of Pimm’s, half a shot of gin, ginger ale, fresh apples, strawberries and mint leaves I HAVE unashamedly had Pimm’s for breakfast.
After a visit to the Madame Zingara group restaurant last year with a friend, I decided that it is a perfectly acceptable activity to sip on a Pimm’s cocktail while soaking up the morning rays in the leafy garden setting – before most people would consider it. It’s afternoon somewhere, I thought. I popped in to determine if the drink has the same allure during conventional Pimm’s drinking hours. It does.
Bartender Chipililo Chingwaru makes the drink by building the ingredients in a pilsner glass. The drink’s fruit pieces is all the garnish it needs. It has a beautiful design, strawberries and apples suspended in all that loving, summery spirits.
I have nothing else to say on its taste beyond this: refreshing.
Manager Roubaix Barnard says it is a popular order on weekends and in the summer months. The Company’s Garden Restaurant was opened last November.
The restaurant has minimal decor, accentuating the beauty of the trees and the foliage of the garden. I would suggest queueing to use the weaved swings, you are never too old.
Smoking is barred. The restaurant provides free wi-fi. They are open daily from 7am to 6pm with kitchen hours from 7.30am to 5pm.
