‘Robin Hood’ takes from generous and gives to

-

IT’S NEVER too soon to instil a love of theatre in your little ones. Take them off to Canal Walk these holidays to see the centre court transformed into Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle for the production of Robin Hood.

Produced by Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyer, Robin Hood is a musical feast with a 5m talking tree, speaking falcon, Maid Marian and a host of other loveable and admirable characters who will help Robin on his quest to give to others, defeat the Sheriff of Nottingham and find love.

Like the hero who is on a mission to make life better for others, Canal Walk and the Hyprop Foundation have partnered with the LEAP Science & Maths schools with all proceeds from the theatre programmes, as well as a percentage of the ticket sales, being donated to these no-fee schools. It’s also a chance for everyone to do their bit for the community, as throughout the theatre run, patrons and theatre-goers are asked to bring a can of food to help them and the LEAP schools to feed the minds and bodies of those less fortunate. We have two sets of four tickets each to give away to readers. To enter, send an email with Fun Finder/Robin Hood in the subject line to aphiwe@ networxpr.co.za with your name and contact details, and the date and time you wish to see the show. The competition closes at noon on Monday, June 27. Winners will be drawn randomly and contacted directly by the organisers. No correspondence will be entered into by Weekend Argus or Good Weekend.

The tins gathered during this time – 17 000 (6 700kg) are required – will be constructed into a mosaic representing former President Nelson Mandela. The mosaic will be built on Mandela Day (July 18) at Canal Walk and will be a visible reminder of what Madiba envisioned for South Africa.Once
