Robbers arrested

AN ATTEMPTED robbery at a Thibault Square cellphone store ended in a chase between police and suspects through the streets of the city centre on Thursday.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said when officers arrived on the scene, three men fled. Two suspects ran towards Hans Strijdom Avenue but police officers eventually caught and arrested them.

The third suspect, armed with a 9mm firearm, managed to run to Green Point before he was arrested. The suspects are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
