Angels on Horseback: Reloaded: At Alexander Upstairs from Monday, until July 30, at 9pm. Direction by Fiona du Plooy. It follows the success of Angels On Horseback which was conceptualised in 2007 and created by Du Plooy with Candice D ‘Arcy. It received a Fleur de Cap Award for Best Performance in a cabaret or revue in 2009. “I am the last of the original team involved.” said Du Plooy. “I have moved off the stage and am directing, choreographing and producing.” Daneel Van Der Walt and Alicia McCormick front the production. It also features guitarist Jonathon Tait and pianist extraordinaire David Lubbe. The show is funny, original, tender, risqué and hilarious. Louis Viljoen’s The Emissary at 7pm, is followed at 9pm by Court – written by Candice van Litsenborgh. Emissary – “the study of a friendship rooted in a lie” stars Emily Child and Andrew Laubscher. Court is a fictional story inspired by the experiences of Samantha Glimmer – the girl in the Roman Polanski rape case. Court is performed by van Litsenborgh and Claire-Louise Worby.
