Potter goes for a lotta

-

LONDON: A first edition copy of The Tale Of Peter Rabbit has sold for £43 400 (R811 038).

The Beatrix Potter book, featuring 41 fullpage line drawings, was one of 250 printed privately by the author in 1901 after several publishers turned her down.

But the story soon became a hit with her friends and family and a publisher decided to print the book.

The copy went under the hammer at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury in London on Thursday.

The auction, which marked the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth, raised almost £100 000. – Daily Mail
