Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Franschhoek festival
THE inaugural Franschhoek Craft Festival takes place at Môreson next Saturday between 11am and 5pm. The definition of a craft is “an activity involving skill in making things by hand in a traditional or non-mechanised way”. This will be an opportunity to sample and purchase a selection of specially curated handcrafted food and drink as well as specialised and limited edition pieces, including art, jewellery and luxury leather goods. Plenty of local wines, cap classiques, craft brews and small batch spirits will slake your thirst while Môreson’s restaurant, Bread & Wine, will showcase its artisanal charcuterie and breads, with many other craft and food producers offering cheeses, pastries, chocolates and more, all to the tune of live music. “This will be hands-down the best showcase of all South Africa’s local craft producers. Come see for yourself,” said Nikki Friedman, GM of the familyowned and run farm which is where the lovely Miss Molly bubbly comes from.
Tickets, which include entry and tastings of the wines on show, cost R180 person through www.webtickets.co.za.
