Festival of love will light up hearts

-

VALENTINE’S day is around the corner. As gifts go, you might be able to get away with the free sad red rose from the supermarket which will wither and die before it opens, or a recycled card from bygone years (they’re supposed to be anonymous so it could work although I don’t encourage it), the truth is we have been socially conditioned to expect something a little bit more lavish, a bit more special.

I don’t care how much some people say they don’t care about February 14; we all flourish when being showered with loving gifts and romantic outings. Luckily we have some super ideas for you, so there are no excuses. Koekies & Cream. There will also be three group acts by the newest members of Black Orchid Burlesque, and a few sultry lounge numbers by singer Dani Diamond.

The show is at Nomad Bistro and Bar (Waterkant Street, Cape Town, 021 418 3020) and can be enjoyed as is, or including tapas, dessert and a complimentary cocktail on arrival.

Dinner and the show cost R500 a couple, or R100 a person for the show only.

Doors open at 6.30pm, and performances run between 8pm and 9.30pm. Tickets are available through Quicket. The inaugural Plus 1 Festival takes place from February 17 to 19 at the recently refurbished La Paris Estate in Franschhoek with its spectacular views and rolling green lawns.

This “festival of love” can be attended for the entire weekend or just for one of the three days, with a fantasy themed “Happily Ever After Party”.

There will be live performances from GoodLuck, Euphonik, Mi Casa and The Kiffness, and for the first time in South Africa, DJ Lovebirds from Berlin will perform a special set.
