Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)

Stomping fun time awaits at festival

- BIANCA COLEMAN

THE Stellenbosch Wine Festival, presented by Pick n Pay, is up and running at the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds and continues until tomorrow.

The event offers the best of the award-winning Stellenbosch Wine Routes (see box on right), presented in a family-friendly, relaxed and entertaining outdoor format.

Since its inception, the festival has become well-known for showcasing some of the finest wine the country has to offer. Add to that delicious food, great live music and a host of fun outdoor activities all in one of the country’s most beautiful settings. Daily canapéand-wine pairings sessions will run at the Tasting Room – reserve your place (at the festival venue) as these sessions tend to book out fast.

You can book a session with a winemaker and taste award-winning small batch wines and rare vintages in the new Wine Library.

For some real harvest action, try a bit of grape-stomping at the Grape Stomping Ground.

There will be a feast of food in the Gourmet Lane.

While adults sample wine, they can deposit their offspring in the supervised children’s area.

The festival is open from noon till 8pm today, and noon till 6pm tomorrow. Tickets are through www. webtickets. co. za: R190 for adults, includes tasting glass and cashless voucher; R450 weekend pass includes tasting glass and cashless voucher; R60 for children under 18 and children under 12 enter free of charge.
