Sassa staffers held over R5.5m fraud
EIGHT officials from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) have been arrested in Mpumalanga for alleged fraud after they allegedly manipulated the system to pay out R5.5 million in grants to people who did not qualify.
The Hawks said yesterday its members in Mpumalanga working with crime intelligence officers arrested the Sassa officials on suspicion of fraud and corruption.
“The suspects include eight women and a man between the ages of 32 and 63.”
