India mob attacks

NEW DELHI: At least six men were beaten to death by mobs pelting stones in eastern India on suspicions that they kidnapped children, police said.

The killings took place in two separate incidents in adjoining districts of Jharkhand state on Thursday night.

The first incident was in East Singbhum district where three men were beaten to death by villagers who accused them of kidnapping children, police said. In the second, three more men were lynched on similar suspicions. – dpa
