Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Win!
THE annual Shiraz & Charcuterie festival takes place at Anthonij Rupert Wines in Franschhoek next Saturday, from 12pm till 5pm.
Not because it goes with just about anything, shiraz (or syrah) has become one of my favoured reds at the moment. At the festival you’ll be able to taste the farm’s fabulous range – Anthonij Rupert Syrah, the Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Shiraz and Protea Shiraz. The latter has extra allure with its eye-catching indigenous floral inspired bottle (the actual bottle, not the label), which is great to keep and recycle for home use… for olive oil and vinegar, for example.
Joining the host will be a selection of our country’s finest syrahs. Participating producers include Rust en Vrede, Waterford, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, Hartenberg Wine Estate, Simonsig and Thelema.
Savour the wine with one of the hearty winter dishes on offer. Drawing inspiration from the Rhône Valley, choices include a traditional French Onion soup, and home-made saucisson served with braised cannellini beans. Pre-booking is essential. Tickets (entry and tastings) are R220 via www.webtickets.co.za. For details e-mail info@dnaevents.co.za or call 084 207 3820.
