Britney’s gum bursts seller’s eBay bubble

A WAD of chewing gum, which is supposed to have come from the mouth of pop singer Britney Spears, was listed on eBay in 2004 for $14 000.

The seller competed with himself on the site and sent the price soaring into the stratosphere.

Although the seller provided no authenticity, the listings incorporated photos and a ticket stub to show where the gum was reportedly chewed and spat out.

Many of Spears’s used gum wads went on sale in 2004, however, most of them fetched no more than about $1. – Jan de Beer
