Teabag on Brits’ top 10 list

-

ASK the British to name the most important inventions of all time and you can rely on them agreeing on one answer in particular.

Taking its place in the top 10 alongside such essentials as the wheel, the clock and penicillin is the teabag.

Also on the list, compiled in no particular order, are the plough, Roman armour, the sewers, the light bulb, the fridge and the internet.

The list was released by English Heritage, which surveyed 2 000 people and asked them to name the most innovative products from human history. – Daily Mail

But when struck down with flu, it seems Nigella Lawson reaches for a bottle of tequila. The TV chef revealed her remedy on Twitter this week.

She said: “Feeling fluey. So forgive me, but gargling with tequila and taking to my bed.”

While Lawson suggests turning to spirits, medical authorities recommend gargling with salty water instead.

Many other home remedies include strong alcohol such as a hot toddy – whisky, lemon, honey and hot water – for a cold. – Daily Mail
