‘Brad’s death had a purpose’
“THE death of Bradley Richards will not be in vain.”
These were the words of Plettenberg Bay volunteer firefighters after Richards died due to injuries suffered while battling the fires that ripped through the coastal town last week.
Richards, 24, was a member of the Plettenberg Bay South Fire Management Unit. Ian Barnard suffered severe burns trying to save him.
The volunteer group’s main response vehicle was destroyed during Richards and Barnard’s ordeal, and most of their firefighting gear burnt when their workshop was gutted in the fire.
