Don’t interrupt my run!

- ROBIN ADAMS

BRUCE Fordyce is a legend in the running world. The South African athlete has run the Comrades Marathon 30 times, winning a record nine of them.

At the age of 61, he’s shown his love for running has no bounds. Fordyce was accosted by two armed men during his Friday morning jog. “Two guys jumped out of a car. They had guns,” he told Weekend Argus.

The armed robbers demanded his running shoes. “They were welcome to have them. The shoes were very old and smelled like cheese,” laughed Fordyce.

Then it was his running watch, which he let go of because “it was cheap”. Then it was one of his gloves, which Fordyce found strange “now I look like Michael Jackson”.

Fordyce was upset they interrupted his 10km run, went home, put on another pair of running shoes and finished his jog. He reported the matter to Parkview, Johannesburg, police.
