Stellenbosch home is set in tranquil ‘Golden Triangle’

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - FRONT PAGE -

A LARGE “ambassadorial” home, set in a tranquil setting among vineyards in the historic town of Stellenbosch and offering breathtaking views of mountains and sea, will be auctioned on site by the ClareMart Auction Group at 1pm on September 29.

Situated in “The Golden Triangle”, a top wine-growing area, the thatchedroof character home of about 721m² comprises a main house and an attached guest and entertainment wing, says Mike Baigel of ClareMart.

On the lower level of the main house are five bedrooms, a spacious lounge and dining room, a fitted kitchen and scullery, and several covered patios and decks from which to take in the panoramic views of mountains, sea and vineyards, he says.

“The living areas have a good flow from one room to the next and the clever architectural design allows for a balance of sunny and shaded areas, with just enough natural light streaming in.”

Baigel says, in keeping with the style of an ambassadorial or official residence, the upper level houses a study, a library, and an office, making this an ideal work-from-home property that distinctly separates the work space from the family’s living area.

The guest wing is set on rolling green lawns and includes three spacious bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge or library, and a study.

“It also includes staff quarters for two, ideal for male and female housekeeping staff or management. In addition, there are two double garages and secure parking for 14 vehicles.”

Electrified perimeter fencing secures the one-hectare property, which Baigel believes “must be viewed to appreciate the lifestyle of grandeur, finesse and privacy” it offers.

The property – Bellenbosch, Portion 6 of Farm 1328, Eikendal Road, Stellenbosch – will be on show both on Sunday and on September 24 from 2pm to 5pm.

A 5% deposit and 10% auctioneer’s commission (excluding VAT on the commission) will be payable on the fall of the hammer. The balance will be payable on registration of transfer.

For more details or an appointment to view the property, call Mike Baigel on 021 425 8822 or 082 926 9479, email or see www.
