Ex music teacher pleads not guilty

-

A FORMER piano teacher at top private school Reddam, in Constantia, Cape Town, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting children.

Riekert Joubert appeared in the Wynberg Regional Court on Thursday, where the case was postponed to November 24 for trial.

The former teacher is accused of fondling six boys, aged 9 and 10, during music lessons in 2015.

A source told ANA that as many as a dozen boys may have been victims, but only six went ahead with laying charges.

In July 2015, Joubert was arrested after an investigation of at least a month-and-a-half before being released on R2 000 bail with strict conditions.

At the time, Reddam House Constantia said he was an independent music service provider and that they had terminated his contract. – ANA
