Rio games chief held for graft

THE scan­dal en­gulf­ing the In­ter­na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tee and of­fi­cials from the 2016 Olympic Games has es­ca­lated.

Rio com­mit­tee pres­i­dent Car­los Nuz­man and his right-hand man, Leonardo Gryner, were ar­rested yes­ter­day for “cor­rup­tion, money laun­der­ing and crim­i­nal or­gan­i­sa­tion”.

There are also al­le­ga­tions of bribes of $2 mil­lion (R27m) and pos­ses­sion of 16 gold bars. Nuz­man is sus­pected of vote-buy­ing to se­cure the Games for Rio. – Daily Mail
