Burqa ban spreads

COPENHAGEN: Denmark looks set to be the next European country to restrict the burqa and niqab after most parties backed some sort of ban on facial coverings.

Full and partial face veils divide opinion, setting advocates of religious freedom against secularists who argue they are a symbol of women’s oppression. France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Bavaria have restrictions on full-face veils in public places. – Reuters
