A new era dawns for loyal Minecraft players
THE people behind one of the world’s most popular online open world games have released one of their biggest updates yet.
Minecraft development studio Mojang announced the release of the game’s Better Together update in a blog post by Mojang spokesperson Marsh Davies on the game’s official website last week.
The update does quite a lot for the game, including several new features such as the introduction of parrots, banners, stained-glass building material, fireworks, and armour stands, along with redesigned button mapping and a long list of bug fixes.
The biggest thing about the update, however, is that it allows players using Xbox One, smartphones, VR platforms and Windows 10 to connect with each other on the same server.
This means that players on all platforms (with the exception of Sony’s PlayStation 4), can now play
online together. Minecraft
In addition to officially allowing cross-platform gaming, the update also creates a kind of cloud service for users.
“It lets you play your Realm on console (for example), hop off, then pick up where you left off on your phone,” wrote Davies.
The update extends to all ports of , except the
Minecraft Nintendo Switch, which is set to receive the update between December and February.
Players will also be able to share invite links to Realms on all platforms, except Xbox One. If you own on
Minecraft Xbox One, you can download the update free, and it will be available on Android, iOS, and Windows 10.
