The problem I have with the City of Cape Town is how it can determine that every household can manage on 350 litres of water per month. Was a survey conducted? Placing meters in households without first determining the minimum needs of households is problematic. Question for Patricia de Lille: are you going to allow 35 000-plus cyclists of the Cape Town Cycle Tour in March 2018 to use potable water to shower after the race or are you going to cancel the event?

Regarding the Fish Hoek shark exclusion nets, the daily retrieval crew of eight could be replaced by one snorkel diver with a knife to free any snags and entangled sea life. It would benefit those who would like to swim safely and not get eaten by sharks after hours, which will save an enormous amount of ratepayers’ money. – M Reolon, Fish Hoek
