-

ACTING on an urgent instruction to sell the contents of a movie prop house that was involved in the making of international and local films, Bidway Auction House will auction props used in the movies, and the prop house furnishings, on Wednesday.

The auction will comprise more than 1 000 lots. Auctioneer Stef Olivier says: “Good quality movie props and décor will be sold, including framed paintings, pots, suitcases, vases, crockery and cutlery, electronic displays, frames and light fittings.”

A highlight will be the sale of a 60-seater 1984 Ford bus used in a well-known local movie. Also on auction will be a large quantity of costumes, clothing, wetsuits, diving gear, statues, antique-style radios and other items used in movies.

The furnishings will range from leather couches and chairs to dining room tables and chairs, bar stools and cabinets, office furniture, Persian-style carpets, woven baskets, décor items and patio and outdoor furniture.

The auction will be held on site at 30 Auckland Street, Paarden Eiland, at 11am on Wednesday. The auction assets can be viewed at the same venue between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday.
