Don’t miss the exciting all-female ‘ Taming of Shrew’ at Maynardvil­le, writes

and a critical look at modern misogyny.

Maynardvil­le has been rebranded as The Maynardvil­le Open-Air Festival.

In addition to the Bard and the ballet – the two staples of Maynardvil­le – there will be music, comedy and other happenings, and new food and drink offerings, although visitors are still welcome to bring their picnics.

The festival starts on January 18 with Symphonic Shakespear­e, with the Cape Town Philharmon­ic Orchestra playing orchestral works which underscore Shakespear­e plays, passages and characters.

● The Taming of the Shrew is on Monday to Saturdays at 8.15pm. Tickets are R150-R220. On Valentine’s Night,February 14, there will be prizes. School performanc­es on February 12,

13, 20 and 20 at 7.30pm – talk, followed by show at 8pm.
