Finally, at 40, local comedian Stuart Taylor says he feels comfortable in his own skin as a performer, writes

TUART TAYLOR’S first one-man show in three years, Funny You Should Say That, is currently running at the intimate Golden Arrow Studio at The Baxter.

“It’s been a while since I’ve done a oneman show so I’m really excited about doing a full hour of brand-new material in my home town,” says Taylor, who was born in Grassy Park.

Fun fact: Taylor has been performing magic since his teens when he studied this art at the College of Magic in Cape Town. He was the reigning SA National Comedy Magic Champion for three years.

“Developing the material in the comedy clubs over the past few months has been a blast for me,” says Taylor.

“I turned 40 recently, so I guess this show is my version of a mid-life crisis! I find my tolerance for BS has gone down with age, so this show is about me being uncensored, saying what I want to say, and hoping y’all find my comic musings hilarious.”

Funny You Should Say That is directed by the multi-talented, award-winning theatre director and comic, Rob van Vuuren.

Just because he hasn’t done solo shows for a while doesn’t mean

Taylor – who has been performing locally and internationally for nearly two decades – hasn’t been super-busy.
