The Echo of a Noise. Pieter-Dirk Uys’s poignant and beautifully written live memoir is on for one night only – Sunday March 18 – at Followspot’s Kalk Bay Theatre.

In “Echo”, Uys focuses on two great influences in his life – his father Hannes Uys and their housekeeper, Sannie Abader. He talks about his private and public life – the intersection of his art and his life’s journey. The show is one hour and starts 8.30pm. The à la carte restaurant opens at 6.15pm. Tickets are R175 at www.kalkbaytheatre.co.za or

021 788 7257.

The Pastor’s Kid. Drummer Lance Rhoda presents this show at the Masque, Muizenberg on March 28 and 29.

Born in Retreat, he started playing drums at a young age and in his impressive career he has played for an illustrious array of artists such as Kurt Darren, David Kramer, Jack Parow, Loyisa Bala and Emo Adams. It has not been an easy ride as he has grappled with drug addiction and other challenges. But he came through by drawing strength from the church and the people around him. He will be accompanied by a four-piece band and will be joined on stage by a surprise guest artist. Audiences at the shows will have an opportunity to enter a draw to win a drum kit and a set of his signature drum sticks. The sticks are for sale in music stores. Tickets for the Masque shows are R120.
