Wine estate, export fruit farm on offer

-

AMONG the properties to be auctioned by Rawson Auctions Western Cape this month is a prestige wine estate and export fruit farm in Robertson.

“Mon Don estate is 10km from the Robertson central business district and 180km from Cape Town,” says Tanya Jovanovski of Rawson Auctions Western Cape.

The farm spans 77ha and produces plums, nectarines, apricots and peaches as well as citrus fruits for export and local markets.

The produce is packed in the farm’s own pack house, which has a capacity of 10 000 bins for stone fruit and 10 000 bins for citrus.

“There are also eight cold rooms. Vegetables such as butternut and green peppers are also packed on site for export and local markets.

“The farm’s winery has a capacity of 1 200 tons, and the orchards on V-trellis systems produce up to 80 tons a hectare,” says Jovanovski.

There are homes for a general manager, a pack house manager, and a farm manager, and labourers’ cottages for 40 permanent workers.

There is also a day-care centre on the farm for farm workers’ pre-school children.

The main homestead on the farm comprises five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen with a scullery, a laundry, two dining rooms, two lounges, a swimming pool and a double garage.

The second home consists of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room with barbecue area, lounge, laundry and a double garage. The third house has three bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room and a living area.

The reserve price for the property is R60 million, but all offers will be considered.

The farm will be auctioned at noon on June 27.
