Touws River irrigation farm with manor house

‘Properties like this do not come on the market too often’

-

AT THE end of the month, BKB Properties will bring to market an irrigation farm, measuring about 5 138.9 hectares, which has abundant water and is situated just north of Touws River.

The farm has 270ha under irrigation, with underground lines for the production of vegetable seed and vegetables; 22ha of plums; 3ha of apricots; and 640ha of arable dry land.

The remainder of the land serves as grazing for small stock, says Willie van Rensburg of BKB Properties.

Water is supplied by seven registered boreholes, and by dams after good seasons of rain.

The main dwelling is a beautiful manor house.

Other buildings on the farm include a house for a manager, accommodation for 10 workers, a storeroom and two lean-tos.

Van Rensburg describes Touws River as “a quaint little town about 185km east of

Cape Town, with the imposing surrounding mountains as an ever-present backdrop”.

He says: “This magnificent area is popular among locals and visitors, and farmers love it as much for its conditions – including its rich soil and abundance of water – as they do for the lifestyle, and for the fact that it is not very far from Cape Town.”

In his view, the property to be sold is “an excellent, well- developed, productive farm with endless possibilities. Farms like this do not come on the market very often.”

The farm will be sold by tender.

Contact BKB Properties’ offices at Cecilia Square, 100 Cecilia Street, Paarl, for tender documents.

Tenders will close at noon on July 27.

Viewing is by appointment only.
